Design Competition

ASE has partnered with ArtSpace/Lima to conduct a state-wide design competition for a new Shrine at Indian Lake. The community in Russells Point uses the shrine regularly, so we wanted local Ohio residents to have a say in what we build — something that will last at least another 60 years.

ASE seeks to identify an artist or artists to create a piece of private religious artwork to be placed at St. Mary’s Point in Russells Point, Ohio. This artwork will replace the former landmark that was well-known to residents of Indian Lake and abroad for six decades. The winning piece shall be a respectful artistic design, keeping in mind the subject matter.

This competition includes the design improvements for the entire site. This includes: layout, lighting, landscaping, sidewalks and, of course, the new statue and base. Plans are for the new Shrine to be dedicated by August 15, 2026.

Submission Deadline

The deadline for submission is August 15, 2024. Please see the competition details and rules document linked on this page for more information.
